Industrial Internet Helps the Real Economy to Be Real, Strong and Better

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward that “promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and build a digital industrial cluster with international competitiveness.” As a new industrial ecology and new application model for the deep integration of the new generation of information and communication technology and the industrial economy, the industrial Internet is not only a new growth point of digital industrialization, but also a new infrastructure for industrial digitalization, It has become a new engine for the growth of the digital economy and an accelerator for the leap of the real economy. Taking advantage of the development of the digital economy, the industrial Internet has been applied to 45 major categories of the national economy. In 2022, the industrial scale will exceed trillion yuan, showing great development potential.

Taking Haier as an example, we began to explore the industrial Internet in 2007 and officially launched the Caos industrial Internet platform in 2017. At present, the Caos Industrial Internet Platform has linked 900000 enterprises and more than 80000 service enterprises. From a practical point of view, enabling industrial development with the industrial Internet is conducive to promoting the digital transformation of the real economy, and through the reshaping of production methods and business models, enabling enterprises to achieve cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency increase, further activating the vitality of the development of the real economy.

At the enterprise side, the industrial Internet provides a new path for digital transformation. The profit of small and medium-sized enterprises is often relatively small, and the input of digital transformation resources is limited. The industrial Internet has the characteristics of open interconnection, co-construction and sharing. By providing lightweight applications of “low cost, fast deployment, easy operation and strong security”, the industrial Internet can significantly reduce the threshold of enterprise digital transformation, and enable real enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to rapidly complement their digital capabilities in a low-cost and flexible way with a replicable and scalable mature solution. For example, in Zibo, Shandong Province, an industrial enterprise carried out digital transformation of industrial kilns by introducing the Caos industrial Internet platform. After the transformation, each production line can save more than 15% of natural gas and more than 5 million yuan annually. Today, 24 local enterprises are also actively promoting the construction of intelligent workshops for kilns. It is estimated that the average energy consumption will be reduced by 8%, the labor cost will be reduced by 30%, and the production efficiency will be increased by 8%.

At the industry end, the industrial Internet provides new possibilities for the construction of industrial ecology. In the digital era, user demand is increasingly personalized and diversified, which also puts forward higher requirements for supply. The industrial Internet has the characteristics of “one meter wide and one hundred meters deep”. The so-called “one meter wide” means that each industry has the characteristics of each industry, and the enterprises in each industry are different. The space that the industrial Internet can develop may only be “one meter wide”; The so-called “100 meters deep” means that the industrial Internet can promote the deep connection between upstream and downstream enterprises through digital networks by building an open and shared industrial ecosystem, and enable the industry to transform from “walled garden” to a “tropical rainforest”, thus promoting the deep integration, quality and efficiency of the whole industry. In other words, the industrial Internet can promote the digital transformation of the entire industrial chain, better meet the consumption demand of “thousands of people and thousands of noodles” with stronger and better industrial supply, and continuously improve the user experience.

From the perspective of regional development, a more open and inclusive industrial Internet platform will better connect multiple elements of resources supporting development, and promote the full integration and better allocation of people, logistics, information flow, and capital flow in the region. In this sense, deepening the use of industrial Internet can also enhance the effectiveness of supply-side structural reform in the industrial sector and stimulate the vitality of regional economic development.

Strengthening the empowerment of industrial Internet, deepening the vertical industry in the vertical direction, driving the transformation and upgrading of industries with new technologies, expanding the ecology in the horizontal direction, and cultivating cross-industry and cross-domain industrial Internet platforms will certainly help the development of the real economy and inject surging momentum into the high-quality development of China’s economy.
