Emerson released a new slurry electromagnetic flowmeter that can resist noise interference

Flow measurement solutions help improve product quality, reduce raw material costs, and reduce waste and rework

Recently, Emerson Rosemount with Rosemount 8782 slurry transmitter ™ MS slurry sensor is a slurry electromagnetic flowmeter specially designed for high noise and slurry applications. It is suitable for oil and gas, mining, pulp and paper industries. With rugged coil and advanced signal processing function, it can obtain sensitive and stable flow signal even in high noise applications. With 25 years of product experience in these challenging applications, the new slurry electromagnetic flowmeter can help improve product quality, reduce raw material costs, and reduce waste and rework.

If the customer’s fluid contains a lot of particles, slag, pulp or sand, or the process noise is high or the signal is unstable, It is suitable to use this slurry electromagnetic flowmeter (or slurry MAG) as a flow measurement solution. Slurry electromagnetic flowmeter has the latest advanced signal processing function. It is the first product in the industry that can adapt to changing process conditions in real time. It can eliminate the noise in the flow signal without using too large resistance and provide reliable measurement and calculation results for operators.

Accurate measurement of process flow is essential for efficient plant operation. Therefore, the slurry electromagnetic flowmeter uses advanced signal processing function capable of real-time diagnosis to provide the reliability of flow measurement and the function of automatic control loop.

This slurry electromagnetic flowmeter includes more standard diagnostics, such as grounding and wiring fault detection, which can help ensure that the flowmeter can be installed correctly at the first installation. The optional advanced process diagnosis can help users deeply understand the performance by detecting and diagnosing large process noise. It can also be actively maintained in applications worried about wall hanging, such as in pulper applications where variable slurry distance in wood fiber may cause wall hanging of flowmeter.

Working principle: advanced signal processing can well adapt to changing process conditions, ensure the elimination of noise in flow signal and improve the reliability of measurement and calculation of operators. Flow signal stability and real-time diagnosis can ensure the reliability of measurement results and the automatic control ability of the loop, so as to improve product quality, reduce raw material cost and minimize waste and rework.

Finally, the 8782 includes the intelligent instrument self calibration function designed by Emerson patent, which can diagnose or calibrate the instrument in a simple way. The diagnosis or calibration process that used to take several hours is now shortened to several minutes. Although the 8782 transmitter is designed for use with MS sensors, it is also compatible with existing 8707 transmitters. Users of any existing Emerson solution can use its signal processing and advanced diagnostic functions to meet challenging application requirements.

“The advanced features of Rosemount slurry electromagnetic flowmeter can help customers better achieve their operational objectives.” Said Laura chemler, product manager of Emerson automation solutions. “Advanced signal processing can adapt to the changing flow without the problems caused by traditional damping methods, and provide more accurate flow feedback when needed, so as to help ensure the efficiency of the whole process, reduce waste and make more efficient use of valuable resources.”.
